Make New Energy Warehousing and Logistics Soar

I. New Energy | New Energy | Tackling High-Efficiency and High-Value Project Challenges

With the global energy transition and increasing urgency of climate change, the new energy industry has become one of the most dynamic and strategically important emerging sectors of the 21st century. It is a major force driving the development of global green and low-carbon energy. Industries such as lithium batteries, photovoltaics, energy storage, and electric vehicles are developing rapidly, and automation levels have reached a high standard. Due to market uncertainties and excess capacity in some sectors, companies urgently need to improve cost control and supply chain management capabilities. Automated warehousing, as a key link in modern supply chains, is an important approach to enhance flexible production and delivery, improving quality, reducing costs, and increasing efficiency.

III. Successful Case | Tackling High-Efficiency and High-Value Project Challenges in New Energy

1. Timeline

1) First inquiry: February 2023; 2) Contract signing: March 2023; 3) Delivery: October 2023

2. Project Background

Farasis Energy is a globally leading manufacturer of soft-pack power and energy storage batteries, and one of the first companies in China to mass-produce ternary soft-pack power batteries. The company focuses on R&D, production, and sales of soft-pack lithium-ion batteries, rapidly expanding in transportation, energy storage, equipment, and energy IoT applications. Farasis is committed to providing advanced clean energy products and services worldwide.

This project involves the finished goods warehouse at Farasis’s Zhenjiang facility.

3. Solution

EFX highly customized finished goods warehouse solution

The automated solution covers finished goods storage management and order fulfillment, meeting both the client’s high safety requirements and high-efficiency shipment requirements.

4. System Equipment

1) Automated warehouse: One finished goods warehouse; module storage uses four double-deep stacker cranes with a 1000 kg load capacity and 19 m height; PACK storage uses three double-deep stacker cranes with a 1500 kg load capacity and 19 m height.

2) Software: Equipment monitoring and scheduling (WCS), Warehouse Management System (WMS)

IV. Project Challenges Wheels Project

The stored products are battery packs. Due to their high value and the system’s high efficiency requirements, multiple safety aspects must be considered:

Project Challenge 1: Safety during handling and storage.

Project Challenge 2: Software fire safety management.

Project Challenge 3: Potential risks caused by foundation settlement affecting overall system stability.

After receiving the project assignment, the EFX technical team applied over ten years of project experience and insights into common industry pain points. The team not only addressed all client concerns but also identified potential hidden risks and proposed preventive solutions, ultimately achieving perfect project delivery.

V. Solution

  • Ensuring handling and storage safety

The project included a 19 m high double-deep storage requirement with 1.5-ton load capacity. EFX provided stacker cranes from top international brands to ensure stable operation. Considering the specific needs of the new energy industry, monitoring and fire protection facilities were also installed. These hardware and safety configurations provide strong support for stable operation and safe storage.

    Solution
  • Software to handle complex fire safety scenarios

The EFX software team has over 20 years of industry experience. Considering the special nature of the stored products, the team developed 27 main scenarios and over 200 detailed sub-scenarios within the software system. Multi-angle triggering mechanisms and solutions were implemented.

The equipment control system uses EFX’s proprietary core algorithms to ensure stable operation. To meet high safety requirements, multi-depth shelf detection functions were added to the control system to prevent collisions caused by potential ground settlement, maximizing overall system safety.
